Dorothy and Toto?

This was a great shoot. I had worked with this model on some general shots for the Tights Project - she wanted some shots of her six-month-old pet Skunk, Skooma.

Working with an exotic pet was something I hadn't experienced before. Skooma was pretty well behaved for a wild animal, but we definitely had to work around his desires. He was very curious and really enjoyed exploring the studio!

We went through a LOT of cat food and dog treats to bribe Skooma into posing. We had to Photoshop out a LOT of crumbs. We lit the scene with an Alienbees AB800 in a medium softbox and another AB400 in a brollybox for fill. When Skooma was even close to in place, I had to fire off a number of shots to try to get him in a good pose - the shootable moments only lasted for a split second. In all, over 30 minutes of shooting, we shot about 150 frames and got about a dozen usable images.
